Sign up at least an hour before

It is good practice to sign up and pay in good time before any live match. You would not walk up to a stadium and expect to get in immediately ?

Yes, we do understand with the technology that it should be instant. However, if you are a new user to a strange site it will always take a few minutes to find your way round.

There are other roadblocks in the way too. For example we have seen Paypal take at least 5-10 minutes to respond with an Instant Payment Notification. This means that a user can be held waiting to view the stream for that period of time.

At our recent Dunfermline vs Raith Rovers where over 3,000 online viewers the vast majority of people setup in good time.
However, just around kick off a very late surge of viewers attempted to login and purchase. As Paypal payments were delayed the users were continually pressing refresh and checking the website for progress. This caused an extra load on the system that caused delays on access. We recommend that users be patient and wait a minute or two before checking.

With 5-10 minutes the site had settled down for logins and payments and those late users were then able to watch the stream.

Users who had logged in at least 30 minutes prior to the match were unnaffected by any slow down. We do urge people to ensure they are signed up and tested their connection at least 30 minutes prior.

We have however, identifed a couple of areas where we could increase the throughput and help people access the system a bit quicker, these updates will be available for the next game.
