Looking to stream at a location where space is limited or you have limited user resources.
This blog is intended to show the equipment needed to run a live stream.
There are quite a few suitable cameras for this task, this Zowietek one is ideal as it has 20x Zoom, easy to control and produces a 1080p output.
The basic equipment needed is:
-- Camera with PTZ capability
-- Joystick controller
-- Laptop
-- Stream Deck (optional)
The idea here is that one person can setup and use the camera and then control it with the Joystick controller (previously we would need a camera operator and the stream production operator).
Using the Stream Deck makes the selection of information on screen that much easier.
However, using a remote user to setup the data makes it easy to add the relevant information into the stream, such as Home and Away teams, score os other information on screen. SFO have an online module to update the relevant information which then automatically is pulled into the stream production software. (Vmix uses datasource input for this method)
Setup up the output stream and access to the stream is handled by our OTT Platfom on ScottishFootball.online.
However, there is also another easy option where you have reduced resources. We get your stream direct from your camera to our remote output server. Our new facility will allow only your camera with integrated commentary along with our new analytic software to update events on screen. This provides a much simpler mechanism, though at the moment we aare not able to handle replays.
The Joystick controller can also manage up to 4 other cameras giving good access views of other parts of the pitch/stadium/dugout.
There is a 15 key version of Stream Deck which is ideal in this situation, at lower cost.
This specific camera is intended for under cover and should be taken down after each match.
As this camera is a PTZ POE camera it can be located up to 100m away from the production area.
In fact the production unit can be located off site when the camera itself directly pushes the stream out and the production unit can pull down the stream and then produce it as normal then pushing back out the live stream.
There are other outdoor cameras or ones with weather proof enclosures, the choice depends on your specific location.
We have not covered the need for a commentator, which would be an additional audio input. The Commentator could also use the Stream Deck to help manage information on the stream (rather than the joystick user operating the Stream Deck).
